Chapter 01 · 2020 – 2021

Building the Base

2020

Laying the Foundation (2020-2021)

JetFarms NG's journey began in 2020 with a pilot project in Adamawa, where 20 smallholder farmers were connected to local food processors, providing a direct market for their crops. By the end of 2021, JetFarms NG had expanded its reach to over 1,500 farmers across Nigeria, with 60% of these farmers being women and youth.

FSP

Farmer Support Project 1.0

To further support these farmers, JetFarms NG launched the Farmer Support Project 1.0, providing essential inputs such as fertilizers, mechanization tools, and training in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). This initiative resulted in the cultivation of 700 hectares of ginger, turmeric, and maize, achieving a repayment rate of 90%, despite challenges posed by insecurity.

CAP

Commodity Aggregation Project (CAP)

JetFarms NG also introduced the Commodity Aggregation Project (CAP), enabling farmers in Kaduna, Nasarawa, and other states to pool their produce for sale to food processors. At the same time, the company launched an aquaculture project focused on catfish production, attracting investor interest and further diversifying its portfolio. By the end of 2021, JetFarms NG had built a solid foundation to tackle market inefficiencies and create opportunities for rural farmers.

Going Digital

2022

Reassessment, Replanning, and Restrategizing (2022-2023)

Despite early successes, 2022 presented significant challenges, including rising insecurity and increasing farmer debts. These issues prompted JetFarms NG to reassess its strategies. Recognizing the potential of digitizing the food supply chain, the company sought to leverage advanced technologies to drive transformative change.

F2C

Revolutionizing Agriculture

During this period of introspection, JetFarms NG developed the FARM2C traceability app, a digital platform designed to revolutionize agriculture through marketplace, traceability, and e-commerce features. This app connects smallholder farmers directly to premium buyers—exporters, food processors, and consumers—creating fair trade opportunities and streamlining transactions.

FARM2C’s traceability system provides end-to-end visibility, ensuring food safety and quality while enabling quick recalls when necessary. By efficiently matching supply and demand, FARM2C reduces post-harvest losses and increases farmers' profitability. This innovative solution empowers rural farmers, fosters transparency in the food supply chain, and opens new markets locally and internationally.

Adding Value

2024

Scaling New Heights (2024 and Beyond)

With a solid foundation and a new digital strategy, JetFarms NG turned its focus to value addition. In late 2023, the company launched its food processing arm, D'More Spices and Food Products, following months of research and planning. The goal is to provide healthy, nutritious food products to households while ensuring that local farmers benefit from the value chain. D’More Spices offers products such as ginger, turmeric powder, thyme leaves, crayfish powder, and Supa Curry.

Looking Ahead

As JetFarms NG looks to the future, its commitment to empowering women and youth farmers remains strong. The company will continue to create job opportunities through innovative agribusiness initiatives, focusing on building the capacity of marginalized groups to adopt sustainable farming practices and improve their livelihoods.

One key strategy is reducing post-harvest losses through the FARM2C traceability app. With plans to expand its farmer network, develop more products, and explore new markets across Africa and beyond, JetFarms NG is dedicated to transforming agriculture into a sustainable, profitable, and inclusive industry that benefits everyone involved, particularly women and young farmers.
